WHAT IS NIGHTIME?
In the far future, mankind discovers an alien planet orbiting a dim Red Dwarf star. They named this planet Nightime.
Nightime is a world-building and speculative evolution art project that imagines how life adapts, and thrives in one of the most hostile environments the universe could offer.

Humanity arrived as invaders, determined to conquer. But Nightime does not yield. Those who survive its surface are reshaped by it; hardened, sharpened, and ruled by instinct. For over 500 years, civilization has clung to existence 3,200 light-years from Earth. And as with the empires of old, hubris may prove its downfall.
​
This world is not for the faint of heart. Bathed in relentless darkness, Nightime’s lifeforms fear no man. Its landscapes are starved of light, its ecosystems fueled by the raw impulse to endure, and its creatures evolved into monstrous perfection. The deeper one ventures into its vast shadows, the clearer it becomes that humanity may not be the apex predator after all.​​

ABOUT THE ARTIST
My name is Brian Gee, and I was born and raised in Utah, USA. From an early age, I spent my days exploring the outdoors; lifting rocks, searching for insects, and discovering the small creatures hidden in the world around me. That childhood curiosity for life in all its hidden forms would become the foundation of my creative work.

I graduated from the University of Utah’s College of Fine Arts, where I continued to explore the intersection of imagination, science, and visual storytelling. Art has always been my escape, my medium for shaping new worlds and giving life to characters and creatures that exist only in the mind. I’ve spent years imagining how beings look, move, behave, and evolve.
​
Alongside my love of science, I’ve always been drawn to the dark and the uncanny. The things that go bump in the night, and the mysteries that live just beyond the reach of light have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. That fascination naturally informs the eerie, unsettling tone of my work.
​
Nightime is my ongoing exploration of alien biology, extreme evolution, and the psychology of human expansion. At its heart lies a single question that drives everything I create: What does it take for life to survive on a world where even light struggles to endure?
